Vice presidential hopeful Tim Walz will speak Wednesday night at the Democratic National Convention as the party turns its focus to “freedom”-related policies.
While Walz will be the main act, earlier speeches will feature figures including former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi of California, House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries of New York, former President Bill Clinton and Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg.
The lineup will also include former Trump administration national security official Olivia Troye and former Georgia Lt. Gov. Geoff Duncan, both Republicans who are supporting Democrat Kamala Harris for president.
“Tonight’s theme, ‘Fight for our Freedoms,’ will showcase how Vice President Harris has spent her entire career fighting for America’s freedoms, and why she chose Gov. Walz as her running mate, including his record as a champion for America’s working families and a staunch defender of our fundamental freedoms,” Alex Hornbrook, the convention’s executive director, told reporters Wednesday.
